In Pursuit of Peace
My father was a Disciples of Christ pastor for 56 years. He finally retired from preaching at the age of 80. I said that following in his footsteps was something I would never do. While ignoring God's calling, I've managed truck stops, owned six different businesses, and accumulated four college degrees, hosted a music/theater show on public radio. But, in the end...I finally gave in to the call. *********I am perusing a life in Christian ministry. - I have learned never say "never" to God. I will honestly say that I have a lot of "worldly" experience. I have crashed and burned many times along this path. I understand that I do not have all the answers to what it means to be a Christian. But, I believe the key to a successful life is tied to healthy spiritual formation. Our connection to the Holy Spirit should be our constant pursuit. The answer to a stressed-out existence and a hurried life, for me, is found in prayer and meditation. That's what I call my "pursuit of peace." I see .....***..... And, that's where, together, I would like for us to go. My hope is that this Synoptic Roots Project will work to pull all of us into a deeper understanding of Christ and his love for all people. |
