Andy Newbrey and the People of Faith
My father was a Disciples of Christ pastor for 56 years. He finally retired from preaching at the age of 80. I said that following in his footsteps was something I would never do. While ignoring God's calling, I've managed truck stops, owned six different businesses, and accumulated four college degrees. But, in the end...I finally gave in to the call. I am perusing a life in Christian ministry. - I have learned never say "never" to God.
I will honestly say that I have a lot of "worldly" experience. One thing I do not have is all the answers to what it means to be a Christian. I believe that the search for answers has to be a believer's continual pursuit. Once we think we know the "rules" or have the ultimate interpretation of God's Word we become a closed book. We stop learning. We stop growing. We stop listening. We start thinking about digging trenches and surround ourselves with like-minded people. Jesus reached out to the world, the whole world. - Not only to those whom he believed would follow him. Everyone.
My hope is that this Synoptic Roots Project will work to pull all of us into a deeper understanding of Christ and his love for ALL people.
